“The interior is not only the universe of the individual, it is also its case.”
This project explores the intersection of public and private spaces. Drawing from Walter Benjamin’s analysis of the 19th-century bourgeois interior and its resonance with the designs of Victor Horta for his own home, the proposal amplifies this phantasmagoria by transforming the breakfast room into a velvet case.
The velvet, created specifically for this project, interrogates the ambivalence of Horta’s house, which has transitioned from a private space to a public museum.
